Tenso Sofa by Kristalia

Designed by Luca Nichetto

Tenso is a system comprising padded items inspired by tensile structures. The core of the system is its frame, a light and sturdy tubular structure to which the various elements are fixed – seats, backrests, cushions and tabletops, between which a tension is created that keeps the various parts suspended and open, like a welcoming embrace.

The Tenso sofa comes in a multitude of configuration options to suit your space. It can be a sofa and lounge chair, which can quickly be transformed into a modular sofa, depending on the components you choose. The removable upholstery comes in a range of fabrics.

The sofa is soft and comfortable, whereas the upholstery in fabric or leather features tailored details. The element with a reclining headrest offers extra comfort to those who love reading or watching TV.

Kristalia

Kristalia was established in 1994 by young entrepreneurs from Friuli who share two great passions: design and jazz.
From the outset, Kristalia has given special attention to innovative design projects through experimentation and searching for new technical solutions, using materials borrowed from the fields of fashion and sport.
In autumn 1995, Kristalia presented its first catalogue to the sales network. Production immediately met the needs of a public oriented towards contemporary furnishings while maintaining details and reassuring traditional styles.
From the end of the 1990s, with the creation of a definitive company organisation, Kristalia began to pursue a different path and attract consumers who were particularly attentive to the aesthetic and qualitative characteristics linked to innovation in Italian and international design.
The new millennium opened doors to an increasingly global and competitive market but Kristalia confirmed its leading position thanks to its inspiring principles that distinguish it today from other brands.

Currently, Kristalia Srl comprises a team led by motivated people who are fully involved in its development programmes: the strategies, analysed by the owners, are only applied after careful collaboration with the various players in the company.

This ongoing search for a team spirit makes Kristalia stand out from the crowd.

About the designer

Luca Nichetto

In 2006 Luca Nichetto founded a multidisciplinary design studio in Venice, Italy, which specialised in industrial design, product design and design consultancy. From the very beginning, this studio collaborated with a number of different brands and organisations, quickly expanding its influence far beyond Venice and Italy’s borders. Five years later, in 2011, Nichetto opened a second studio in Stockholm, Sweden. This practice was founded in response to an ever growing number of requests for collaboration from international companies, with the studio’s work also broadening out from its initial focus on designed objects. Nichetto Studio has since expanded into areas such as interior design and architecture.

Today, Nichetto Studio works with a variety of brands and clients from all around the world, and its expertise is sought out across all design disciplines. A deep passion for, and knowledge of, industrial and craft manufacturing processes runs through every aspect of the studio’s work. Nichetto Studio’s projects abound in carefully selected cultural references and a keen attention to detail. The practice’s unique position within both Scandinavian and Italian design culture has given Nichetto Studio worldwide recognition. Appreciation of its work extends far beyond the confines of the design industry.
