Innerspace aim to offer something different to the market and support it with friendly and supportive service – the things that we have been known for in over 70 years in the industry.
Innerspace Commercial Interiors started in Western Australian in 1950 by brothers Bill and Bob Hawkins as W,H and R Hawkins Furniture Manufacturers.
Specialising in antique reproduction furniture which was favoured at the time the two brothers built up a manufacturing business known for high quality and craftsmanship.
In 1966 they changed their name to Modern Furnishings to better reflect the new styles and furniture designs of the time. It was around this time that Bob’s son Russell joined and Bill retired due to ill health. Russell’s younger brother Craig joined in 1980 to take over the business with the retirement of the original founder, Bob.
Craig noted that the emerging office furniture market required specialised furniture and changed the direction and name of the business to Modern Office Interiors to better support this growing market.
Fast forward to 1991 and the introduction of a new name ‘Innerspace’ and also the opening of Innerspace in Singapore – at that time a very young market.
Today, Innerspace is still a family owned and run business by Russell’s son-in-law Jonathan Miles.
While Innerspace might have a long history, our country’s history is even older.
Innerspace acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Whadjuk Nyoongar (Perth) and the Gadigal of the Eora Nation (Marrickville) people on which we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
