The 14,000-square-metre facility brings the Western Australia Police Force and Department of Justice staff all under one roof.

The new building provides the Armadale community with improved law and order services – as well as enhanced operational support facilities.

The $88.5 million new complex includes state-of-the-art amenities, featuring five courtrooms equipped with advanced technology to facilitate modern legal proceedings. A dedicated pre-trial conference room ensures efficient case management, while separate and secure facilities cater specifically to the needs of victims of crime, ensuring their privacy and comfort.

For seating the Lordo Task Chair by Dauphin was meticulously selected for its ergonomic design, providing judges and legal staff with optimal support during lengthy court sessions, emphasising both comfort and functionality.

The Magistrate’s Chairs the Lordo Executive Chair by Dauphin was chosen for their ability to adjust ergonomically to the user’s movements, offering sustained comfort throughout extended legal proceedings.

The Noom 50 Beam seating range by Actiu was used throughout the courthouse and police waiting areas, offering flexible seating configurations such as the 4-seat and 5-seat options. Customised padding matched the chairs’ colour scheme, ensuring a cohesive and inviting atmosphere in public areas. Within specific areas in the courthouse and police station the Noom 50 beam series with polypropylene shells were used for the public waiting areas to increase the longevity of the product.

Within the foyer of the ground floor the Magda Armchair by Torre was positioned to create comfortable separate breakout areas for the staffing areas. The Urban Chair by Actiu was used in the Visitor and Meeting Rooms for the Office areas due to their versatility.

In addition to seating, various tables were used throughout the two buildings. For collaborative work the Eona Chilli Round Table by Thinking Works was placed in the conference rooms, promoting interactive discussions. The Norock Trial Table was used in meeting & staff offices as well as the Lunar Table also by Norock.

Outdoor areas were not overlooked, the Tatami Chair by Pedrali was used for employees to enjoy the outdoor in peace and comfort.

These enhancements ensure that the new courthouse not only meets but exceeds the expectations of modern legal professionals and the community they serve, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal throughout its design.

The story behind a classic.

Timeless in design, the Portuguese Chair takes inspiration from the German Bauhaus school and the iconic tubular steel forms of pioneers like René Herbst, Marcel Breuer, and Mies van der Rohe.

Its elegance lies in two continuous steel tubes, one forming the back legs, arms and backrest; the other shaping the front legs and seat frame.
