The Telethon Kids Institute recently won the 2018 Best Building Fit-Out category ($50m-$100m) at the Master Builders in Construction Awards.

Architecture firm Woods Bagot and building company Multiplex brought this project to life with a little help from Innerspace.

This resulted in more than 750 staff, honoraries and students moving into the new facility, built within the new Perth Children’s Hospital.

Through innovative design and state of the art facilities, TKI aim to enhance research collaboration and the exchange of clinical knowledge within the WA medical community. This includes over 250 linear metres of custom laboratory areas utilising the specialised Tec laboratory stools from Dauphin, Germany.

Open plan areas include electrically adjustable sit to stand Territory workstations from Innerspace.
TKI selected to use the same Task chair as the 2200 supplied to the surrounding Children’s Hospital – Edge Task chairs, also supplied by Innerspace.

Innerspace also provided meeting tables, breakout furniture (including the Entente booths from Boss Design UK), and Tambour door / mobile pedestal storage solutions throughout.

Innerspace were honoured and humbled to be part of this critically important not-for-profit children’s health research organisation. So much so that we donated all furniture for the Reception and welcome areas. This included the ALCE sofas, designed exclusively by Australian designer Chris Hardy for Spanish furniture brand Missana.

The story behind a classic.

Timeless in design, the Portuguese Chair takes inspiration from the German Bauhaus school and the iconic tubular steel forms of pioneers like René Herbst, Marcel Breuer, and Mies van der Rohe.

Its elegance lies in two continuous steel tubes, one forming the back legs, arms and backrest; the other shaping the front legs and seat frame.

Available exclusively through Innerspace in Australia.
