Waverley Mills
In 1874, a Scottish migrant named Peter Bulman believed Tasmania could do more than grow wool—it could craft it into something extraordinary. He proved it by producing and selling the first woollen goods made entirely on Tasmanian soil, earning a government bonus of £1000 and, more importantly, laying the foundations for what would become Waverley Mills.
Today, Waverley Mills remain proud custodians of his vision. As Australia’s last fully vertical woollen mill, Waverley Mills continues to weave not just cloth, but continuity—a rare thread of local industry, natural fibre, and human skill that spans generations.
Every piece Waverley Mills create starts on Australian soil. The wool is grown on farms—many in Tasmania—where animal welfare and environmental stewardship are part of everyday life. The fibre is natural, renewable, and made to last. It’s soft enough to comfort a newborn, strong enough to withstand decades, and when it’s finally done, it returns gently to the earth.
When you wrap yourself in a Waverley Mills, you’re embracing over 150 years of Tasmanian history, Australian wool, and local ingenuity. You’re choosing sustainability not just in materials, but in community and culture.
At Waverley Mills, they don’t just make textiles. They make heirlooms. They make memories.
