Trench Stool by Piaval

Designed by Laura Silvestrini

A versatile collection that can easily furnish several interiors for the contract sector.‎ Trench is characterised by a tubular element in curved wood that surrounds the backrest, almost as if to mark what in terms of tailoring is the “waistline”.‎ The upholstery is draped in slight casual chic ripples, both on the front and back of the backrest, evoking the folds that the fabric of the timeless outerwear creates when it is tightened by the belt.‎ The rear structure and the padding of the body itself have been modelled to match the fluid sign of the covering.‎ The result is a series of elegant seats with a welcoming shape, which wink to fashion, but don’t give up stability and comfort.‎

The ductility and resistance of solid ash are enhanced by the careful workmanship of the structure and in particular of the rear legs of TRENCH.‎ Slightly apart, they fit right into the “belt”, with an essential and discreet sign that highlights even more the soft silhouette of the armchair.‎

Thanks to its consolidated know-how in the healthcare sector, in which the company has been active over the decades, Piaval applies to the contract models some useful solutions to facilitate the sanitisation processes and to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria.‎ This guarantees maximum hygiene, resistance and durability, qualities that are now more essential than ever for the cruise and contract sector.‎

Piaval

Each Piaval collection harbours a hundred years of experience in making wooden seats, the guarantee of a genuine “made in Italy” product, and the dedication and hard work of this international brand that has been investing in research and quality for four generations. Piaval’s story began in 1919, when it first opened as a small workshop in Udine, Italy. It has evolved thanks to its insight, perseverance and passion. Today, Piaval is a dynamic, modern company, specialised in manufacturing chairs and tables for the international large-scale contract and healthcare sector.

Design, comfort, excellent materials and functionality are the common denominators of a Piaval product, put together by famous international designers. Piaval collections are born out of a structured approach to technique, function, use and taste. Thanks to their technological skill, in-depth knowledge of materials, internal production chains that bring together highly specialised departments, and constant investment in research and development, each and every collection is created with a focus on the customers and their needs.

Every product is versatile in terms of upholstery and finishes, flexible in the level of customisation, and adaptable to the specific needs of each project. Piaval is UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 certified. Since 1999, the safety and durability of its products has been certified by CATAS, the largest Italian institute for certification, research and testing within the wood and furniture industry. Some 35 models have recently been certified by Ergocert, the ergonomics usability and research body.

This attests their conformity to the highest ergonomic and usability standards. Piaval is fully committed to the environment and sustainable development in every aspect of its business: 100% of the heat it requires for drying processes comes from clean energy sources, thanks to the solar panels it has installed. It uses paints that are strictly water-based in all of its production cycles. On request, Piaval products can be FSC® certified, made using wood obtained exclusively from protected and controlled forest areas.
