Typography Vela Gantry Pendant by Rakumba

Typography Vela gantry pendant, named after the Vela constellation, is the second collection with Rakumba. A new family of spherically formed luminaires suggesting celestial bodies interprets the Typography rail as the axis of an orbital space. The distinctive plate feature alludes to the occlusion and shadowing created during eclipses, changing as the viewer moves about space.
This interplay of light and shadow is a fundamental aspect of Typography Vela. Bringing drama through Calder-evoking sculpture – either minimalist or extravagant – Typography Vela invites designers to exercise creativity using the incredibly versatile Typography Gen 5 system as the backbone. A palette of black, golden, and De Stijl inspired colourways allows for every installation to stand as a unique artistic piece.
The seven unique fittings within the collection can be positioned anywhere along or around the Typography rails. In turn, the rails can be combined in vertical or horizontal orientations; creating pieces of quiet simplicity, or incredible grandeur. Select from Rakumba’s curated suite of compositions, or create your own unique sculpture. Luminary styles include globe 60, globe 85, globe 110, amid, eclipse 75, eclipse 110 and eclipse 150.
Through its design and composition, the Vela collection consists of single and gantry pendants, 3D chandeliers and wall sconces.

Studio Truly Truly
Studio Truly Truly is a Rotterdam (Netherlands) based design studio. Founded by Australian husband and wife design team Joel Booy & Kate Booy, and operates on the interface between industry and art. They run a versatile practice, creating textiles, lighting, furniture and spatial installations.
There is a focus on designing high quality products that combine technical ingenuity with new aesthetics. This results from an urge to dive deep into the production process, to push materials and techniques to their limits.
Industrial processes are frequently combined with abstract organic details or forces of nature. In their work, the natural and unnatural are blurred or contrasted in new ways, putting their qualities in the spotlight to be consciously considered and celebrated.
